Viscount

Viscount was a British bicycle marque best known for lightweight Aerospace road and touring bicycles using fillet-brazed steel frames and unusually extensive in-house alloy components.
Company history
Viscount emerged in the mid-1970s after Trusty Manufacturing acquired the assets and tooling of Lambert Cycles. Production moved to the West Midlands and the marque developed Lambert's lugless, fillet-brazed concept into the Viscount Aerospace range. High-end Aerospace Pro and GP models combined lightweight steel frames with proprietary sealed-bearing hubs and bottom brackets, machined cranksets, stems, pedals, and an aluminium fork, while Grand Touring, Sebring, and later conventional lugged models broadened the range. Trusty promoted destructive and vibration testing and exported extensively to North America. Yamaha acquired the business around 1978; despite racing successes and a 1980 bicycle-of-the-year award, Viscount production disappeared by 1982 or 1983.
