Univega

A classic American-import bicycle marque with Italian and Japanese manufacturing roots.
Univega is an American bicycle marque created by importer Ben Lawee in the 1970s, known for road, touring, and mountain bikes built by manufacturing partners in Italy and Japan.
Company history
Bicycle importer Ben Lawee developed Univega during the 1970s bike boom through his California-based Lawee business. Early bikes were sourced from Italian makers, then production shifted to Japanese partners including Miyata, helping establish a reputation for well-equipped road and touring bicycles and later mountain bikes. Lawee sold the brand to Derby in the late 1990s, after which it was associated with Raleigh. No current official Univega website or operating headquarters could be verified.
