Tomac logo

Tomac is an American mountain-bike marque founded around champion racer John Tomac, known for downhill, cross-country, trail, and all-mountain frames bearing his name.

Company history

John Tomac and Manitou founder Doug Bradbury established Tomac Bicycles in Colorado in 1998 and launched a three-model full-suspension range led by the Magnum 204 downhill bike. American Bicycle Group acquired the marque in 2001. John Tomac later recovered the rights and, with former Answer Products manager Joel Smith, relaunched Tomac from Lincoln, Nebraska, for the 2007 season with platforms including the Carbide, Snyper, Automatic, and Cortez. The business subsequently entered a long hiatus after Smith left the licence in 2013. Johnny T, Inc. retained the TOMAC bicycle mark, and a new official site appeared in 2023 announcing a renewal of the marque after 25 years of history.
