Speedwell bicycles

Speedwell was a major Australian bicycle marque built by Sydney firm Bennett & Wood, spanning early high-wheelers, roadsters, racing machines, and utility bicycles.
Company history
Cyclists Charles W. Bennett and Charles R. Wood opened their Sydney business in 1882, first importing bicycles and soon selling Speedwell-branded machines. Bennett expanded local safety-bicycle production, and by 1911 the company advertised itself as Australasia's largest bicycle builder. Speedwell supported racing, built Olympic and road models, opened a modern Redfern factory after World War II, and was sold to General Accessories in 1965 before Australian production was phased out around 1970.
