Spalding Bicycles

Spalding Bicycles logo

Spalding Bicycles was the cycling line of the Chicago sporting-goods company, offering road, racing, and military-pattern machines during America's 1890s bicycle boom.

Company history

A.G. Spalding & Bros. expanded from sporting goods into bicycle manufacturing in 1894 and supplied machines including the Spalding Military Special used by the U.S. Army's 25th Infantry Bicycle Corps. The bicycle division joined the American Bicycle Company trust in 1899, which continued advertising Spalding-branded cycles in 1900.
