Six-Eleven

Six-Eleven Bicycle Co. is a Roanoke custom framebuilder creating made-to-measure lugged and fillet-brazed steel road, cyclocross, track, touring, town, and mountain bicycles.
Company history
Roanoke native and US Air Force veteran Aaron Dykstra founded Six-Eleven Bicycle Co. in 2008 after returning from bicycle-industry and advocacy work in New York and Chicago and studying framebuilding with Koichi Yamaguchi. Dykstra named the one-person workshop for Norfolk & Western's streamlined 611 J-Class steam locomotive, linking the marque to Roanoke's rail and manufacturing heritage. He built each steel frame by hand to fit its rider, using lugged and fillet-brazed construction. Six-Eleven won North American Handmade Bicycle Show recognition as Rookie of the Year in 2010, Best Track Bicycle in 2011, and Best Cyclocross Bicycle in 2012, and later introduced the more accessible Hometown Bikes line.
