Sekai

Sekai was a Seattle bicycle marque offering Japanese-built road, touring, and track machines through a national American dealer network.
Company history
Seattle retailer Velocipede created Sekai around 1971 in partnership with Osaka's Shinwa Trading Company. Shinwa coordinated production across Japanese builders, with the specialist Miki shop making the flagship 4000 road and track frames and 5000 superlight models. Sekai developed a national dealer network and sponsored a racing team that helped launch riders including Rebecca Twigg. Currency pressure weakened the independent importer, Norco acquired it in 1979, and the Sekai name was gradually discontinued in the early 1990s.
