Rambler

Historic Chicago bicycle marque whose spring-frame Rambler helped make cycling more accessible.
Rambler was an American bicycle marque made by Chicago's Gormully & Jeffery Manufacturing Company, known for practical safety bicycles and distinctive spring-frame models.
Company history
Thomas B. Jeffery and Philip Gormully began producing Rambler bicycles in Chicago in 1878. The Henry Ford preserves an 1892 Diamond Rambler and describes the marque's spring frame and cushion tires as innovations that made cycling more comfortable and accessible. Gormully & Jeffery introduced the American Rambler by 1888 and sold its bicycle business to American Bicycle Company in 1900; period bicycle listings show Rambler continued into the early 1900s.
