Paper Bicycle

Paper Bicycle was a Scottish utility-bicycle project built around a low-maintenance one-size frame, enclosed drivetrain, upright position, and customisable chaincase panels.
Company history
Mechanical engineer and Carry Freedom founder Nick Lobnitz began developing the Paper Bicycle in 2006 while working on a Royal Mail brief for an easy-to-use, easy-to-maintain delivery bicycle. The resulting step-through design omitted conventional seatstays and used a second structural panel around the drivetrain, creating a rigid frame with a fully enclosed chain and surfaces that could carry custom artwork. Production frames were fabricated in Taiwan and finished or assembled in Scotland, with single-speed and Sturmey-Archer hub-geared versions, drum brakes, dynamo lighting, racks, and baskets. The frame concept was also licensed to Velobility for European public-bike systems.
