Mountain Cycles

Mountain Cycle was a pioneering American mountain-bike marque that brought motocross and aerospace ideas to monocoque suspension frames and hydraulic disc brakes.
Company history
Mechanical engineer, pilot, and former motocross racer Robert Reisinger founded Mountain Cycle in San Luis Obispo in 1988. Before launching a complete bicycle he developed the Suspender fork and Pro-Stop hydraulic disc brake, then introduced the radical San Andreas full-suspension bike in 1991 with an aluminium monocoque main frame and elevated swingarm. The San Andreas became a landmark of early suspension design and entered the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art collection. Kinesis acquired Mountain Cycle in 2001 and moved the operation to Portland while continuing the brand and its model line.
