Hinton Cycles was the original name of FLIT, a British company developing compact, lightweight folding electric bikes for urban travel.
Company history
The founders began developing a practical folding e-bike after meeting while studying in Beijing, then returned to Cambridge in 2016 to build the company. Originally named Hinton Bikes after the Cambridge suburb of Cherry Hinton, the team changed its name to FLIT in 2018 when it could not secure long-term trademark rights. FLIT went on to develop and manufacture folding electric bikes in Cambridge, carrying the original Hinton project forward.
