Heinkel
A German engineering marque with a short post-war bicycle chapter.
Heinkel was a German engineering and vehicle marque that briefly produced bicycles in the post-war period, alongside scooters and microcars.
Company history
Ernst Heinkel's company was established as an aircraft manufacturer, but post-war restrictions prevented aircraft production. The company diversified into bicycles, motor scooters, and the Heinkel Kabine microcar before returning to aircraft work in the 1950s. The business was absorbed into Vereinigte Flugtechnische Werke in 1965; Heinkel's bicycles belong to this short post-war chapter rather than a continuing bicycle line.
