Graflex
A historic American maker whose early manufacturing included bicycles.
Graflex grew from a New York maker of bicycles and gas fixtures into a major American camera manufacturer; its bicycle production ended as the company focused on photographic equipment.
Company history
William F. Folmer and William E. Schwing established the Folmer & Schwing Manufacturing Company in New York in 1887. The company made bicycles before developing cameras; after Eastman Kodak acquired it in 1905, operations moved to Rochester. The independent Folmer Graflex Corporation was later formed, and the Graflex business ended in 1973.
