Alexander Leutner & Co. logo

Alexander Leutner & Co. was a Riga manufacturer whose Rossiya bicycles made it the first and largest cycle producer in the Russian Empire.

Company history

Alexander Leutner opened a four-worker mechanical shop in Riga in 1886 and reorganized the expanding works as A. Leutner & Co. Riga in 1897. The factory added motorcycles and automobiles, reached more than 8,000 bicycles a year by 1914, and ended its 29-year Riga operation when wartime evacuation moved its equipment to Kharkiv in 1915.
