Adolphe Clément

Clément was a pioneering French bicycle marque founded by Adolphe Clément and recognised by its rooster emblem, quality road bicycles, and early industrial-scale production.
Company history
Adolphe Clément founded his first cycle-manufacturing workshop in Lyon in 1877 and opened a large Paris workshop on rue Brunel in 1878. Trading as Clément et Cie, the business became France's largest cycle manufacturer by 1886. Clément later joined the 1896 acquisition and consolidation of Gladiator with Clément and Humber, while the Clément name expanded into motorised cycles and vehicles.
